Fatima Alvarenga
Communications, Media & UX/UI Design
About
I hold a Bachelor of Communications and Media Studies from Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario. During my academic career, I interned at Narcity Media as a journalist; at the Heart and Stroke Foundation as an event planner; and at the Canadian Parks and Wildlife Society as a community outreach coordinator.
Prior to joining the knowledge sharing division at the Canadian Conservation Institute in 2019, I worked for Health Canada's Health Promotion and Chronic Disease branch as a communications adviser, as well as at Employment and Social Development Canada's Chief Financial Officer Branch as a communications officer. In addition to this, I have managed various personal blogs and websites, as well as created content and articles for different international platforms such as Affinity Magazine and Mogul Inc.
Furthermore, I have approximately 9 years of experience in the communications field that I'm currently continuing to develop at CCI. I work on simplifying complex and technical information for a general audience, managing CCI's social media networks, coordinating with the library technician to respond to client inquiries, and overseeing the content for marketing material such as brochures, handouts, post cards, and more.Education
